Neighborhood Cleanup Huge Success

Glendale City Council Candidate Jamie Aldama (Ocotillo District) was joined by members of the Apollo High School Key Club in a neighborhood cleanup project on Saturday April 5, 2014.

Aldama, and the students, joined by several volunteers from the neighborhood, worked Saturday morning from 9am-12 noon cleaning the area between 60th and 61st Avenues between Ocotillo Rd. and Lamar Rd.

“These young people are our future leaders,” said Aldama of the Key Club Volunteers.  “They, and their adviser, Krystal Claudio, gave back to our community today and I thank them.”

Key Club is an international student-led organization, which provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character, and develop leadership.

Also joining in the cleanup were several area residents, one of whom provided all of the volunteers with a cheeseburger lunch when the work was done.

“Jamie Aldama has shown me that he truly cares about my community,” said area resident Jack Gallegos.  “I know he will be there for every Ocotillo District resident when he is elected to the City Council.”
